Flint Hills Flyers is based in north central Kansas with a landing strip and hangar located 4 miles east of Riley, Kansas. The Flint Hills Flyers club is a local chapter of the National Antique Airplane Association. Approximately 20 members claim antiques according to the national ranking specifications.

To qualify as an antique an aircraft must be more than 30 years old. Planes that date between 1946 to present are considered "classics". Those built from 1931 to 1941 are called "antiques", while aircraft that date from 1930 and earlier fall under the "pioneer" category.
