1992-1997 BS in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology with an emphasis Natural History, Kansas State University

 

WORK HISTORY

Summers 1995-1997 Environmental Education Specialist, Rock Springs 4-H Center

I was responsible for doing nine forty-five minute presentations a day with an average of twenty children ( ages 8-16) per group. I was also responsible for setting up and maintaining exhibits and signs in the prairie learning center including hands-on exhibits, native wildflower gardens, a native aquarium, and displays with other live animals. In addition, I  helped in the design of two interpretive nature trails; A handicapped accessible riparian trail and a wildflower walk.

 

INTERESTS & ACTIVITIES

Nature and Wildlife Photography.

Volunteering with The Wonder Workshop Children’s Museum.

Member of National Association for Interpretation (NAI).

Riley County rural fire fighter.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS 

I have experience with Windows 95, Excell, Word, and Access.

I have always had an interest in computers and have been using them for many years. In addition, I  have taken a class dealing with the  above operating system and software.

I am am familiar with FrontPage 98 web authoring software.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

I have experience working with people and enjoy interpreting different aspects of the natural world.

I was involved with Wide Horizons Nature Program (WHNP) during my junior and senior years of high school. I gave four presentations a week on reptiles and canines to elementary school classes (Grades 1-6).

I led a merit badge workshop dealing with snakes for the Boy Scouts of America.

I am certified in Project WILD and I have used many of the activities with children. I am also planing to become certified Project Aquatic.

I have designed several of my own programs to use with the public. I am best known for my programs with reptiles, amphibians, native fish, and aquatics. However, I am comfortable giving presentations on a variety of topics.

I am trained in CPR and First Aid.
