Kansas State University President Jon Wefald commented on Gov. Bill Graves’ state of the state address:

"The Governor’s State of the State message last night was an excellent and positive response to the budget challenges facing our state today.

"The original budget recommendations unveiled last week by the Division of the Budget cause all of us in public higher education in Kansas great concern for the future.

"Governor Graves, in this message, put forth a road map for the future of our state. His compassionate and insightful recommendations will elevate our state to a new level in addressing the most important issues facing our citizens for the next 50 years.

"We look forward to working with the governor and the members of the Kansas Legislature in the upcoming months to chart our course for the future."
