Opposition Group To Oppose Half Cent Sales
Tax
An organized effort will be made in the final three weeks before the
November 5th election to get voters to turn down the Riley County Commission's
Half Cent Sales Tax.
For the past fifteen years the Riley County Commission has Budgeted
money to repair county roads and bridges. Taxpayers in the county have
paid that tax and for the same fifteen years the Commissioners have taken
the money and spent in on other things.
According to county records from 1995 to 2001 the Commissioners have
spent more than $4 million on Capital Improvement Items and only $226,166.57
on county road and bridges.
Yard signs have been ordered and will be delivered starting next Wednesday.
