County To Get Heat From Servers

The Riley County Commission has agreed to pay $17,000 to enlarge the space for the Information Systems Department. The will be moving additional servers into a room located to the left as you exit the Riley County Office Building elevator on the third floor south.

Work will involve removing a wall and door. The will then add a new heat pump to cool the room. The additional servers (for computer network) will add a lot of heat.

Other items to be added will be lighting, electrical wiring and a thermostat will be relocated.

The Commissioners were told the $17,000 is significantly less than the cost of potential server damage from excessive high temperatures.
