Ron Fehr Named Acting City Manager

The Manhattan City Commission voted unanimously Monday to appoint Assistant
City Manager Ron Fehr as acting City Manager. Fehr will fill in for City
Manager Gary Greer who has resigned as of Dec. 23.
Greer has been City Manager for the past four years and resigned last
Tuesday to become vice president of Manhattan's Steel and Pipe Supply Co.
Fehr has been with the City since 1982. He worked with the City Parks
Department and then was named assistant city manager in 1992.
In 1995 Fehr acted as City Manager for seven month before the Commission
picked Greer. He hold a degree in forestry from the University of Missouri
and he earned his masters in public administration from Kansas State
University in 1990.
“As Mayor of Manhattan, it is with regret that we accept the resignation of
City Manager Gary Greer. I have always known that his exemplary
qualifications made him a logical candidate for a variety of managerial
positions in business and industry. I was personally hoping that we could
keep him longer. We wish Gary well and are grateful that he and his family
will stay in Manhattan,” said Mayor Roger Reitz.
