House Destined To Be Destroyed Gets Saferoom

The City of Manhattan purchased the house at 5166 Wildcat Creek Road for more that $200,000. The land will be added to the new industrial park north of the Airport. The idea is to have the house removed or torn down sometime in the future.

Why did the City spend $8,200 to add a saferoom to the house?

The saferoom was added before the former Airport Manager moved into the home. Other work was done on the house but the City does not keep records where they can be easily reached.

The Free Press did look at a file showing receipts but the City could not run a printout of the expenses.
