Good Place To Live

Men’s Journal magazine named Manhattan as one of the 50 Best Places to Live in their March 2002 issue. Number 43, Manhattan is noted for it’s location in the Flint Hills and as an "idyllic college town." Special consideration was given to the Little Apple as ranking "the best" in the region. As a matter of reference, Princeton, New Jersey was ranked #41; Cody, Wyoming showed in at #42 with Charlottesville, West Virginia followed Manhattan at #44.

How did Manhattan receive such prestigious distinction? The magazine editors visited towns and rated them on quality of life characteristics such as recreation opportunities, safety, services, arts and entertainment. Other factors considered dealt with housing, education and the cost of living.
