Road trip trips up K-States win streak

The Kansas State baseball team went to Iowa and ran head on into a storm, to be more specific a Cyclone. The
K-State baseball team ended one streak and extended another. Iowa State put an end to K-States 7 game home
win streak but extended their losing streak to 16 on the road. K-State has lost on the road since playing Wichita
State on May 5, 1999.

Iowa State swept the three game series over the weekend with two wins on Saturday (3-0) (4-3) and one on
Sunday (6-2). The two teams were in a battle for last place in the Big 12. Prior to the weekend games KSU was in
11th with a 3-14 conference record (16-20) overall and Iowa State 12th with a 3-15 record (11-28) overall. Now
Iowa State is in 11th (6-15) and K-State is sitting at the bottom (3-17).

Football

Purple and White game

K-States spring scrimmage is this weekend. April 29, 2000 kickoff is set for 1:10 p.m. This weekend should be
exciting. The freshmen that redshirted last year will be out playing their heart out trying to grab the attention of
the coaches. The freshmen are tired of watching from the sidelines and want to contribute right away. The only
thing that’s in their way are the starters. They have to convince the coaches that they can do the job better.

The starters are hoping that their experience will keep them on the field and the new up and coming on the
sidelines watching. They will have to put a lot of effort in to make that happen. The JUCO transfers will offer
added competition for the starters because they already have the experience; they just need to learn the system.

I hope there will be a good turn out to watch the scrimmage. These players need to see how excited the worlds
greatest fans are about this very promising season.

The K-State season begins with the Eddie Robinson Classic August 26, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. K-State will play Iowa
at Arrowhead stadium to launch the season off right.
