City Commission To Hold Special Meeting On Manhattan Town Mall Sale

The Manhattan City Commission will hold a Special Work Session on Tuesday, April 23 to hear a presentation from a New York company that wants to purchase the Manhattan Town Center Mall.

The City owns the land and must approve any sale. The Commissioners received a letter last week telling them of the sale.

Company officials were in town last week to look over the property. They also met with Mayor Bruce Sneed, City Manager Ron Fehr and later talked with the Manhattan Chamber.

Target date for closure is June or July. The company owns several shopping malls and could look into redevelopment of Third Street.

The Mall has been on the market for two or three years and has had one buyer back out.
