State Chairman To Speak To Local Republicans

Mark Parkinson of Olathe, the Republican state chairman will be the featured speaker at the Riley County Republican Party meeting Wednesday, May 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Landon Room at the Ramada Inn. The meeting is open to the public.

Also attending to share brief comments regarding the recent session of the Kansas legislature are Senator Lana Oleen, Representative Kent Glasscock, who is also a candidate for Lieutenant Governor, and Representative Jeff Peterson.

Four announced Republican candidates for local elective office will be introduced. They are Dr. Russ Frey, a candidate for the House of Representatives seat which is currently held by Representative Peterson; Dr. Roger Reitz, running for the House seat held by Representative Glasscock; ;and two candidates for County Commission seat which is currently held by Dr. Frey. They are Mike Kearns and Larry Plumlee.

The Riley County Republican Party is a separate and distinct group from the Riley County Republican Assembly. The Assembly is generally considered the more conservative wing of the Republican Party, although the two groups do have much in common.

The Republican Party will also hold its biennial candidates forum Sunday, July 28 at 7 p.m. in Long's Park.
