City Commissioner Brad Everett is a new member of the Riley County Law Board and when he started asking questions about the proposed $9.2 million Budget for 2003 no one wanted to listen. The meeting had been going for an hour Monday before the Budget came up. They will schedule a meeting some time next week to take up the Budget.

The proposed 2003 Budget is $9,819,901.08 compared to $9,252,801.00 for this year, up 6%.

As it stands, the City of Manhattan would contribute $7,554,617.00 (80%) and Riley County would contribute $1,888,654.00 (20%) Carryover would be $303,930.08, copy fees $6000.00 and parking control $66,700.00 would make up the remainder.
