Master Gardners To Hold Annual Tour

The Master Gardeners of Riley County are sponsoring the fourteenth annual Manhattan Garden Tour on Saturday July 13, from 9am to 1pm. Proceeds from the event benefit the Kannsas State University gardens

Manhattan area residents who have opened their gardens for the tour include: Todd and Stephanie Lagerman, 1415 Yuma; Barry Leach, 1409 Yuma; Jon and Lila Levin, 1735 Fairview; Dave and Ann Redmon, 2232 Cedar Acres Dr; Kirk and Betty Wilson, 2151 Blue Hills Rd; and the KSU Gardens, 1500 Denison.

Tickets are $6.00 if purchased the day of the tour at any of the homes or $5.00 in advance through July 11 at the following sponsor locations: K-State Research and Extension-Riley County Office, Horticultural Services Garden Center, Midwest Hardware, Manhattan Town Center, Lee Creek Gardens, Dillons, Eastside and Westside Markets, West Acres Nursery - Junction City, Waters True Value Hardware, and Blueville Nursery. Raffle prizes will be featured at each site. Children under 12 are admitted free.

The Master Gardener program, offered by Kansas State University Research and Extension - Riley County is part of a nationwide program in which adults participate in a 40 hour horticultural course taught by Cooperative Extension Specialists. Participants then volunteer a minimum of 40 hours service to the community. The annual Garden Tour is just one of many events and activities in which Master Gardeners take part.
