Boys & Girls Clubs To Hold Teen Dance

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Manhattan will be hosting a Teen Dance on Friday, June 21 from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m. at 305 S. Fourth Street. There will be a concession stand and a live D.J. playing cool tunes. All youth ages 11 - 18 are invited to attend. Pease bring a toiletry item (shampoo, toothpaste, soap, etc...) OR $1.00 to get in.

The concession stand will be ran by members of the Keystone Club, a service and leadership group for youth ages 14 - 18. All proceeds from refreshments sold at the dance will help send some of the members to the Regional Keystone Club Conference held in San Antonio next month. All toiletry items and dollars paid to get in the dance will be donated to the Manhattan Crisis Center. Two good causes and a night of fun all rolled up into one!

"This is a great opportunity for teens in the community to get together over summer break in a safe and fun environment," said Barb Allen, Boys & Girls Club Executive Director. It will also give parents in the community the chance to come in and check out the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center, which is called "The Spot".

Teen Night is held at "The Spot" every Friday and Saturday night from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. for youth sixth grade through age 18. Teens can play games, watch movies, listen to music, dance, gain job skills, use the computer or just hang out with their friends. There are also gender specific prevention programs and age specific leadership clubs youth can participate in.

The dance on Friday is a special event for teens open to the whole community. It will be chaperoned and a drug and alcohol-free environment will be maintained. For more information about the dance or the Boys & Girls Club in general, visit the Club at 305 S. Fourth Street or call 785-539-1947.
