Developer Looking At New Area
If you want to see a Target Store in Manhattan - we have news for you.

A representative from Classic Real Estate Inc. of Wichita has been contacting property owners in the Industrial
Park about a new TIF District.
The Wichita Company is working with the same Chicago developer that wants to redevelop the Third Street area.
After being turned down by the Riley County Commission for the Third Street TIF District the developers
returned to the County Commission last week asking if a smaller district would work. The Commission asked for
more information.
It maybe by sending someone into the Industrial Park which is in the Pottawatomie County they are sending a
message to the Riley County Commission: “We will build, do you want the Sales Tax Money.”
The area being considered runs along McCall Road from Harding Glass to just west of the McCall’s building and
from McCall Road north on Hayes to just south of the UPS building.
Some of the business and buildings in the area are: Harding Glass; Waste Management; Hill & Co.; Central
Mechanical Services; McKinzie Pest Control; USD 383 Bus Barn and Central Kitchen; Cheney Construction,
Inc. and several building owned by R.M Baril General Contractor.
