A To Z Walk Sept 6-8

The Manhattan Area Arts & Humanities Coalition announces the A(rts) to Z(oo) Walk from September 6 to 8 2001.

The Walk kicks off with an outdoor bluegrass concert at the Beach Museum of Art on the evening of Thursday September 6. On Friday September 7 there will be receptions at Urban Designs and the Strecker-Nelson Gallery, followed by a BirdHouse concert at the Manhattan Arts Center. Admission is charged for the concert, which features the Celeste Krenz Band. On Saturday, various Coalition members will be open, some with tours and exhibits: the Wolf House Museum offers an exhibit of 19th century decorative arts; visitors to the KSU Gardens and Insect Zoo can also tour the rose gardens. The Manhattan Public Library will have a book display at the Manhattan Arts Center, where the Columbian Arts are also on display.

Varney’s art classes will be held in the Center’s parking lot, and the MAC Truck offers kids crafts projects. The Zoo is offering an Animal Ambassador Program and behind the scenes tours (space limited). Regular zoo admission will be charged.

Visitors can pick up a tour guide card listing these events with times as well as all sixteen members of MAAHC. Those who get stamps from at least five MAAHC members and leave their card at one of the locations will be entered in a drawing for various prizes, including two tickets to a McCain event, a Beach Museum membership, two tickets to the KSU Theatre musical "A New Brain", a Zoo family membership, and others. The cards will be available prior to the Walk at any of the above mentioned locations.

The walk is designed to raise awareness of cultural opportunities in Manhattan.
