Fire Department Improves Protection Rating

The City of Manhattan has been notified that its fire protection rating has improved. Manhattan’s Fire Department has received a #3 rating out of a possible 10 with a rating of 1 being excellent and 10 extremely poor. Ratings are determined through an on-site survey of fire department practices, receiving and handling of fire alarms and the hydrant water supply. Surveys are conducted by the Insurance Services Office, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois.

Insurance consumers in the City of Manhattan may wish to check with their insurance agents to determine whether this classification upgrade will affect their policies.
