The Manhattan Economic Development Opportunity Fund Advisory Board (MEDOFAB) earned their money Wednesday. The group which recommends to the Manhattan City Commission how they should spend the 1/2 cent sales tax money, held a meeting with Mercy Community Health Foundation, and the meeting went from 8:30 a.m. to 1:10 p.m.
Mercy Hospital was asking for $1,000,000 economic money. They were asking for $200,000 a year for five years.
The MEDOFAB Board voted in the end to give $500,000 to the hospital now and match one dollar of city money for every five dollars the hospital raises by donations.
The hospital will now take their request and the MEDOFAB recommendation to the City Commission.
Below is MEDOFAB's seven year projections (was ten, edited for space)
