CUSTOM DESIGNED

LLAMA EQUIPMENT

...For the first couple of years we tried to make-do with what was available - just normal livestock equipment. All of it is designed for heavier, sturdier-built farm animals (like cows and horses). Llamas are smaller, easier to handle, and much more delicate. The trailers, chutes, feeders, and other handling equipment just didn't work as well for our llamas as we thought they should. Sonia and I combed through catalogues and asked at llama shows and through organizations what other llama people were using. Most were in the same boat as us - making do but not really happy with what they were using. We were able to find a restraining chute made by the Buckhorn Llama Company Inc. and modified for llamas that seems to work great. But we were still coming up short on other handling equipment. Finally, out of desperation, I went to work designing a few of my own. I share them here in hopes that I can help someone else who has encountered the same problems......Quincy Sittingdown
