A Walkabout Photo Safarai

camp

What is “WALKABOUT/SAFARI?”
It is our summer enrichment camp for students who are ages 7-17 years old.

What will kids do?
safair 2This is a camp that allows kids to hike, and discover animals on the many different hiking trails such as: insects, amphibians, deer, fish, buffalo, birds, etc. Students will discover the diversity of the ecosystems as they move from a woodland forest, to the prairie and into the streams. Kids will document their experiences through photography. Some photographs will be featured in our newsletter next fall. Don’t worry, kids will receive a copy of their favorite photo of the week to take home with them. In addition to photographing animals and scenery we will create an exhibit at our museum called “Flora & Fauna of Riley County,” from the pictures taken during this camp. We have binoculars and cameras but we strongly suggest campers to bring their own. So if you have a camera and/or pair of binocular’s please send it with your child. If you do not have either, don’t worry we will pair the kids up and they can share ours. These campers will be given a healthy snack each day and we ask that they come with a good pair of walking shoes and a water bottle. Often we may get wet from stream-walking so be prepared because your child may come home a little dirty.

safair 3This camp is lead by Richard Pitts, the director of the Wonder Workshop, who has lead this camp for the past 18 years.

He has hired adult staff with at least three years of experience working with children. We take your child’s safety and learning seriously and we care about each child in our camp.
