The
Shrine Bowl of Kansas is an incorporated 501(c) 3 fundraising organization. All profits
from operations are sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children. The principle fundraising
event of the Shrine Bowl of Kansas is the Kansas Shrine Bowl Game.
The Kansas Shrine Bowl Game is an all-star football game between selected pre-college football athletes on each side of a north-south dividing line in Kansas.
The players are selected by a process of nomination by coaches, balloting by state-wide sports media professionals, and official invitation from a representative of the Kansas Shrine Bowl.
The assistant coaches are selected according to their team's final standing in the state high school play-offs. As a result of this system each size school classification, except 8-man, is represented by at least one coach on each squad. The head coach is selected from the previous year's staff of assistant coaches. Any qualifying coach that has coached in the past five years for the Kansas Shrine Bowl Game must be bypassed to give as many coaches as possible the opportunity to participate.
The Kansas Shrine Bowl produces this game and other related events each year. The game brings honor and recognition to the players, their schools and their communities. It has also been an effective tool in raising money for Shriners Hospitals.
To date, the Kansas Shrine Bowl has sent over one million dollars to Shriners Hospitals.
Funds for Shriners Hospitals are developed by ticket sales, advertising in the Shrine Bowl program, merchandise sales, contributions and sponsorships.
